Shawn and I share the same love for travel and adventure. Our first night on the ship was exciting yet still relaxing. After dinner we enjoyed a few competitive games of cribbage, watched a movie and then went to bed.
Our alarm clock buzzed at 6AM and the sun light started to shine through our balcony curtains. This is the beauty of travel, the forbidden hour of 6AM never seems so bad when you’re about to embark on an adventure. Since our ship couldn’t pull up to the Sorrento port, we had to get on a smaller boat to pull into Sorrento. We purchased a guided tour from the cruise ship for this port of call so we had a few minutes to enjoy the sights of Sorrento before getting in another ferry to make our way to Capri.
The scenery was breathtaking. Jagged cliffs lined the shoreline and the terrain was rolling. Houses were perched on every hill. Some leaned over the edge of the cliffs, some lined the winding road ways and others rested on small spaces of flat land. We squeezed onto a crowded bus and drove up to the top of the island. We went to the highest peak and toured a mansion which was converted into a museum. After making our way through the house and capturing some photos we wandered along the pathway to a small cafe to get a cappuccino. The sun was shining but the air was chilly.
Following the visit to the museum we were taken to a cliff side restaurant to enjoy sparkling wine, bruschetta and cannelloni’s. Before heading back to the cruise ship we wandered the streets of Capri, tasted gelato, bought some wine and sat by the iconic clock to enjoy all of the scenery.
We’re patiently awaiting our next taste of Italian gelato…
Until next time Italy!
